Korvaamattomat — Authentic Voices on Finnish Healthcare
We set out to create something truly original and authentic about real people working in healthcare across Finland. Korvaamattomat (The Irreplaceables) is a three-part documentary series broadcast on MTV3 that highlights the perspectives of nurses and care professionals on the everyday realities of their work and the systemic challenges facing the sector.
The Approach
At a time when the Finnish press was dominated by negative coverage of the healthcare crisis, we wanted to create a compelling counter-narrative—one that didn’t just report problems, but instead gave voice to the ambitious, professional people actually doing the work. Rather than focusing on abstract debates or statistics, the series centers on real voices: what healthcare workers think, how they approach solving the issues at hand, and how they sustain hope and resilience in a complex and demanding environment.
The Outcome
Working closely with individuals on the front lines, from practical nurses to registered nurses across a range of settings, the production was rooted in deep listening and human perspective. By foregrounding these first-hand accounts, Korvaamattomat offers audiences an emotionally engaging, honest, and hopeful story about a profession that is truly irreplaceable.
The series was made possible by Mehiläinen, a major private provider of social and healthcare services in Finland.
